While most of Hollywood keeps churning out comic book films and shared universes, director Drew Goddard is ready to throw something new at audiences this fall. In order to view the video, please allow Manage Cookies

Goddard, the screenwriter of Cloverfield and director of The Cabin in the Woods, has enlisted an all-star cast for his new crime/horror/thriller, Bad Times at the El Royale, bringing in Chris Hemsworth, Jeff Bridges, Jon Hamm, Dakota Johnson, Nick Offerman, and Russell Crowe. Just like Cabin in the Woods, which was a mix of comedy, horror, and meta references, this new film sounds like a pretty weird and wild ride, too.

Here’s the official rundown: “Seven strangers, each with a secret to bury, meet at Lake Tahoe’s El Royale, a rundown hotel with a dark past in 1969. Over the course of one fateful night, everyone will have a last shot at redemption… before everything goes to hell. A young concierge (Lewis Pullman) greets the strangers: a down-on-his-luck priest (Bridges), a singer (Cynthia Erivo), an impressionable Southern girl (Cailee Spaeny) and her older sister (Johnson), a vacuum cleaner salesman (Hamm), and a charismatic cult leader (Hemsworth).” Hemsworth previously shared the first look at the film in photos on his Instagram—and he appears to have shed some of his Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War muscle for the role. Now, the studio has released the second trailer for the movie—and it’s even more intense than the first. While we’re not exactly sure what the hell is going on in this movie, there are guns, weird hotel backrooms, a robbery, a fake priest, and one hilarious accent from Jon Hamm. Take a look at both trailers below:

Bad Times at the El Royale will be released on October 5.
