It’s finally here—Dwayne Johnson is ready for the jungle. After months of teasing the film on social media by showing off his massively built back, crazy stunt work, and pranks on co-stars like Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black, The Rock has unleashed the first trailer for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The sequel/reboot (definitely NOT a remake) offers a brand new story following the events of the beloved 1995 film with Robin Williams: Four high school teens find a video game version of Jumanji—and get sucked into the game. The big twist this time around is that the four kids have avatars in the game in the form of Dr. Smolder Bravestone (Johnson), Moose Finbar (Hart), Professor Shelly Oberon (Black), and Ruby Roundhouse (Gillan). The first look at the film shows off the action-comedy tone that Johnson and director Jake Kasdan teased when they first started shooting the movie. Damn, this sure does look like a fun ride:
In addition to Johnson, the highest-paid actor in the world; Hart, the highest-paid comedian in the world; Black, a titan of comedy; and Gillan, the stunning and talented star of Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy, the cast of Jumanji has some very talented actors. The cast includes December 2016 Men’s Fitness cover star and shredded dude Nick Jonas, who plays a badass-looking pilot of some sort who gets stuck on the island; Flight of the Conchords funnyman Rhys Darby; DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story actress Missi Pyle as Coach Webb; and Boardwalk Empire actor Bobby Cannavale in an undisclosed role. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle will be released on Dec. 22, 2017.
