Paul Tralka is originally from the beach town of Belmar, NJ but he’s traveled all over North America in vans — mostly one’s he’s built or refurbished himself. Doing what he does, he helps others achieve their vanlife dreams. “I love selling a van to someone and seeing them go do cool stuff because I did it, that kind of gets me stoked,” Tralka says. On this episode of Van Tours, we take you through his rare 1972 Chevy Balboa that is his family’s personal van of choice. And you guessed it, someone who refurbishes vans for a living has the ultimate one for himself. Tralka runs down the fiberglass adventuremobile, citing that there are only about 50 left of the Balboa since they were only made for about three years. Driving more like a car than a motorhome, it offers the opportunity as an everyday driver without compromising the space of a camper with plenty of room to always bus the family around. Tralka also gives some insight into how he updated the kitchen, with all the tweaks that make sense for he and his family. Simply put, the ’72 Balboa is perfect for Tralka and his family who aren’t everyday vanlifers but inspire others to be. Stay tuned to ASN for other episodes of Van Tours.
