Truman’s Gentlemen’s Groomers, the New York City men’s salon, has been making guys look and feel great for more than a decade. Now with the expansion of their face and hair care line they’ll be doing the same for men who have never been to Manhattan (or had the desire to go there). We’ve sung their praises in the past. If you haven’t tried their shampoo (especially great for thinning hair, $22), hair control paste ($22)—which comes in a pump so you get the perfect amount every time—or shave cream ($16), do yourself a favor and pick some up. That praise continues with the expanded product lineup that now includes aftershave balm, facial cleanser ($21), facial moisturizer ($26), facial scrub ($24), lip balm ($10), and matte hair texturizer (coming soon). While the entire line is exceptional, we especially love the Aftershave Balm ($24). It’s light, cooling, doesn’t sting, and smells amazing (and honestly, we can be scent wary, as in we’re not the kind to slather on cologne, etc., willy nilly). The scent is clean with hints of peppermint and eucalyptus. It’s made with shea butter and tapioca, which is soothing and quickly takes care of redness and irritation; allantoin, a naturally occurring nitrogenous compound that conditions skin; and apple fruit extract that gets deep into the skin and helps retain moisture, among other ingredients. The entire line is next-level stuff, gents. You’re not going to regret taking a little extra time on your daily grooming routine and spending a little bit of cash to look and feel a whole lot better.
