The only thing better than finding a shampoo that disguises your thinning hair is finding one that also does good things for the country you live in. A non-sequitur, you say? We think not. To wit: During America’s birthday month, Brickell Men’s Products is offering a Limited Edition version of their Daily Strengthening Shampoo ($20), from which 50 percent of sales proceeds will be donated to the United Service Organization (USO). This legendary nonprofit group provides morale, welfare, and recreational support to service members overseas. The limited-edition version comes in a bottle featuring the United States flag. We like to think of this as patriotism with a dose of vanity on the side. The generous donation from Brickell came about as the company had a Fourth of July contest on its website, encouraging purchasers of the Limited Edition Strengthening Shampoo to vote for their favorite veterans’ charity. The USO gained support from the company’s warehouse manager, a veteran who spoke passionately about the impact the USO had on his family. So, back to the thinning hair part. Brickell Men’s Daily Strengthening Shampoo uses a unique formulation of natural ingredients that won’t strip the hair of essential oils, while strengthening the strands with protein peptides. Peppermint and lemongrass stimulate the scalp, encouraging hair growth. The result: Stronger shafts, fuller hair. The shampoo is 97 percent natural and 83 percent organic and features an invigorating minty scent (but subtle, not like you dumped a bottle of mouthwash on your head). Brickell Daily Strengthening Shampoo is available at Bloomingdale’s ($20).
