Remember Power Wheels cars as a kid? The replica cars shrunk down for children that ran on 12-volt batteries? Now, imagine putting a 240cc single cylinder, 4-stroke engine from a Honda CRF 230 dirt bike into one of those. That’s exactly what the crew at Grind Hard Plumbing Co. did.
Essentially, the Grind Hard crew turned the Power Wheels car into a go-kart. Another video they produced breaks down everything they did for this Franken-car. The four-day project included cutting the chassis of an old go-kart to fit the toy car, tearing apart the pink Power Wheels Mustang, welding engine mounts in the front of the kart for weight distribution and then installing the 240cc Honda dirt bike engine. Simply put, the thing is a Power Wheels car on steroids. Crew member Ethan gives it a spin for a bit and nearly falls down the side of a cliff, showing just how much power they’ve juiced into the former toy. “It’s pretty much uncontrollable with a 36-inch wheelbase,” Ethan said. And that about sums up turning a Power Wheels from a toy into a go-kart.
