This is the first ranking the organization has done since 2015. Topping the list behind Washington: Minnesota, California, and Massachusetts in that order. At the bottom of the list is North Dakota in 48th, Hawaii in 49th, and Nebraska in 50th. MORE: 2017’s Coolest Bikes In addition to the overall rankings, the League released detailed report cards for each state, hoping the information will drive local governments to pass funding, safety, and infrastructure projects geared toward safer and more accessible biking.
Washington, according to it’s own report card, continues to come out on top because of a funding package that allots $20 million per year to biking and walking projects. Nebraska, on the other hand, has the lowest score for infrastructure and funding in the country and no statewide bike plan, two major factors in the last place ranking.
