RELATED: 7 History-Making Watches You Can Still buy Today That timepiece, an Alsta Nautoscaph, was a pretty sharp example of of ‘70s era diving watches: in addition to the requisite rotating steel bezel and a dark face with chunky glowing indices (necessary if you’re going to know how long you’ve been underwater) it also had a pretty cool bracelet, punctuated with oval openings. You can still find the originals on eBay: one sold just yesterday for $2,247.00.

But if you don’t want to waste time waiting around for a vintage model (or pay that much), fret not: Alsta recently gave the Nautoscaph a modern update, and it’s selling a limited edition of 300 of the automatic watches for $879 on Huckberry. Like its predecessor, the Nautoscaph II has a dark face, big Super-LumiNova indices, and is water resistant to just shy of 1,000 feet. Unlike the original, it has a slightly more streamlined case, and it comes mounted on a Milanese loop, which makes it super easy to adjust. And while it’s made to be in the water, with a relatively smaller 40mm case size, it wouldn’t be out of place in your day-to-day life. Here’s hoping your day-to-day life doesn’t involve any shark attacks.
