Pegg’s personal trainer Nick Lower posted a photo of the 49-year-old actor on social media, revealing an absolutely ripped Pegg with six-pack abs and a dramatic weight loss transformation. Lower wrote that the photo showed Pegg after a six-month training program he used to get “very lean” for his new role in the thriller film Inheritance. As part of the transformation, Lower noted that Pegg went from 12 percent body fat to just 8 percent while also dropping nearly 20 pounds in total weight. The workout program included “a mix of strength, circuits, core and 60km trail runs” along with a “sound nutrition plan,” according to Lower. “When we discussed this character, Simon wanted to be very lean but with definition,” Lower told Men’s Journal. “This physique is a little extreme and not maintainable for long periods, although Simon keeps in good shape all of the time. It was achieved because Simon was consistent with his nutrition and training plan. No tricks or ridiculous dieting methods, just a focused mindset, good nutrition, a mix of strength training and cardio.” (Read up more on Lower’s process here.)
