From using solar power to supporting wildfire relief, perhaps no other brewery takes the relationship between beer and the environment as seriously as Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., and with the creation of its Pale Ale for Trails campaign, the company is doubling down on its commitment to the environment. The campaign, announced yesterday, aims to help protect and repair America’s underfunded trail and river systems by partnering with conservation organizations and sponsoring clean-ups and trail restoration projects across the country.

For the first such project, the company is partnering with the American Hiking Society on National Trails Day (June 1) to sponsor more than 1,200 trail-related events, including hikes and restoration efforts (and parties at Sierra Nevada’s facilities in California and North Carolina). In addition, the brewery has launched a trail clean-up pledge initiative on its website where you can sign up to help maintain a hiking trail near you. “Spending time in the wild is good for the body, mind and soul,” Sierra Nevada founder Ken Grossman said in a press release. “We have an obligation to enjoy these places in the least impactful way, and to protect them for generations to come.”
