In the old days, folks would write down their thoughts into a journal or diary. Their words would likely never see the light of day, but it was cathartic. In 2018, people have the opportunity to share their introspections with the rest of the world. Whether through a social media post, blog or video blog–folks have become less private about their inner musings. This isn’t always a good thing–we’re looking at you guy who posts eight times a day to Facebook. However, this openness can also be a blessing. Take this video for example, Clay Schmitz–the man behind the Clay Island SUP tutorial series on Youtube–gives us his thoughts on the past year in SUP surfing. His ideas give us some insight into the grassroots level of SUP surfing at a local break–San Francisco’s Ocean Beach for Mr. Schmitz–and how standup surfing has continued to gain popularity. Combine that with some great footage of SUP surfing fun waves in offshore conditions and there’s something for all of us to appreciate.
