In the film, Eastwood plays Earl Stone, based on the real-life story of Leo Sharp, an 87-year-old man who was caught by authorities after spending a decade transporting drugs for the Sinaloa Drug Cartel. As shown in the trailer, Sharp dealt with numerous financial issues late in his life, and after being approached with an opportunity to make money, he agreed to transport hundreds of pounds of drugs for the cartel.   In order to view the video, please allow Manage Cookies

The trailer shows off the intense situation Eastwood’s character finds himself in, caught between dangerous cartel soldiers, DEA agents, and everything else closing in on him. Here’s a look at the intense trailer:

Eastwood appears on-screen in an acting role for the first time since the 2012 film Trouble with the Curve, and this is the first time since Gran Torino in 2008 that he’ll be directing and starring in the same film. Cooper plays Colin Bates, a DEA agent based on the real-life agent Jeff Moore, who was the one who arrested Sharp. The film is based on a New York Times article detailing Sharp’s exploits and the coordinated operation that caught him. The Mule is scheduled for release on December 14, 2018.
