If Scott Eastwood makes co-piloting a giant robot in his upcoming film Pacific Rim Uprising look easy, it’s because he’s been training for it—after a fashion, anyway—for almost his entire life. “I started flying helicopters when I was a kid,” the actor told Men’s Journal in between takes for the magazine’s April 2018 cover shoot, shot by photographer Jeff Lipsky. “My dad was a pilot for a long time, and he had me up fiddling around with the controls as a kid, so I sort of caught the bug early.” His dad, of course, is the legendary actor and director Clint Eastwood. Scott credits him as part of the inspiration behind him getting into making movies himself. When he’s off the set, you can find him taking advantage of all the amazing adventures the United States has to offer. “I’ve been down the Colorado River whitewater rafting,” he said. “I’ve been bow hunting in Idaho. The list goes on and on.” It’s what made him the ideal cover guy for this issue, which features the greatest adventures you can take in every state of the union. You can read the entire United States of Adventure package in the April issue of Men’s Journal, on newsstands now—and see Eastwood on-screen when Pacific Rim Uprising debuts on March 23.
