Showcasing from the floor of the recent 2018 Paddlesports Retailer trade show, Aqua-Bound’s Andrew Stern announces an update to the manufacturer’s two lightweight performance offerings, the Whiskey and the Tango. With the goal of producing the “most comfortable natural feel” in a performance paddle, Stern highlights the new addition of a bent-shaft option for both blade types, allowing touring paddlers to reduce fatigue and prolong time on the water by aligning wrists in a more natural position.
The new ovalized 3K Plain Weave carbon bent shaft compliments the two blade options, and it also features the same innovative, all-carbon Posi-Lok ferrule system, which clicks securely into position with convenient dual-button release and feathering angles in 15-degree increments.
The new shaft style (available Oct. 1) serves both efficient, flutter-free blades well: the Tango (at right) designed for a more relaxed, low-angle stroke ideal for the majority of paddlers; the larger Whiskey (at left) designed for high-angle or high-power paddlers and rougher conditions. Both blade-size options are available in either fiberglass or carbon — the fiberglass versions in three color patterns (fuego, sunwave, and agua) — and all still available with the original, straight carbon T-700 shaft, which is also now offered as a 4-piece breakdown for expedition paddlers (for more info visit aquabound.com)
