Sea lions are the bane of fishermen, but mostly in coastal waters. They follow fishing boats and hang around them in anticipation of the fishermen catching fish. Then they steal the hooked fish for an easy meal. Well, a similar scene is unfolding in the Sacramento River in Sacramento, which is 90 miles from San Francisco Bay and the route to the Pacific Ocean. Two sea lions are making a habit of causing havoc with fishermen trying to catch salmon....

At age 74, Barry Lopez is still fascinated by the rain. A stray cat was enjoying an early morning meal on the front porch of the Zaffuto family home in Arvada, Colorado, when it very nearly became a meal for a prowling coyote. The incident was captured at around 12:30 a.m. Monday on a security camera that was directed at the front porch at the Denver suburb house. When your goal is to not fall and break bones, that can keep your mind from dwelling on negatives and actually beat depression. Climbing can be used to build muscle and endurance, while also helping to reduce stress, making it a therapeutic treatment to fight the symptoms of depression, according to a recent study from the University of Arizona and University of Erlangen. The research, which looked specifically at bouldering—rock climbing done close to the ground with no ropes—found that people who climbed three to four hours a week for eight weeks moved from moderate to mild depression....
