Goepper is an Indiana native, having been born in Fort Wayne and raised in Lawrenceburg. The bronze and silver Olympic medalist will get to give the command for drivers to report to their cars during pre-race ceremonies at Sunday’s 102nd Indy 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. “I’m super excited to return to IMS for another awesome Indy 500 experience,” Goepper said. “Being grand marshal of the world’s largest single-day sporting event is a big honor, and I know it’s going to be a great race.” Goepper won the silver medal in men’s ski slopestyle this past winter at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. That was a follow-up to his bronze-medal effort at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Goepper also has five X Games medals (three gold, two silver) in slopestyle. The 102nd Indianapolis 500 gets underway at 11 a.m. (ET) on Sunday, May 27.
