The extremely high-tech, and somewhat controversial, shoes they wore during the attempt—the Zoom Vaporfly Elite—weren’t available to the public, but a similar version—Vaporfly 4%—became available for purchase shortly thereafter. The Vaporfly 4% is a lightweight (6.5oz) racer that’s all about its unprecedented combination of high-level cushioning and responsiveness, thanks to a brand new lightweight foam package and a full-length carbon fiber plate in the midsole. The 10mm offset is easy on the Achilles, and the midfoot hold of the seamless Flymesh upper is remarkable.

Naturally, Nike introduced an upgrade to the Zoom Vaporfly 4%: Flyknit mesh uppers. However they rapidly sold out in running stores, as well as Nike.com. Thankfully, they’re restocking the model just in time for the 2018 New York City Marathon. The Vaporfly 4% Flyknit will restock in North America at nike.com, select Nike stores, and select retailers. At $250, they certainly don’t come cheap, but… they’ll look great on Instagram and maybe—maybe—get you a shiny new PR this fall.
