A new study shows plating up fish for your kids could turn them into a serious braniac. The results, published in Scientific Reports, found that children who ate more fish tended to sleep better, which lead to higher scores on IQ tests. The researchers gave questionnaires to parents of 514 Chinese boys and girls between ages 9 and 12. The parents recorded the kids’ sleep patterns and noted instances like how much they would wake during the night, according to the New York Times.

The study found that kids who ate fish twice a week or more scored 4.8 points higher on the IQ tests than those who only ate fish twice a month or less. The reason? A good night’s rest made for a more productive day at school. “If parents want their kids to be healthy and high performing in school, they should put fish on the table,” the study’s lead author Jianghong Liu, a professor in the school of nursing at the University of Pennsylvania, told the Times.
