Casio G-Shock is about to drop its new G-Steel collaboration with menswear designer Robert Geller, and it’s a watch worth watching. It’s called the GST200RBG 1, and while the name ain’t the sexiest, the watch makes up for it in spades. Call it the Robert Geller x G-SHOCK G-Steel ($420) since that doesn’t sound quite so technical. For more than a decade Geller has been turning heads and taking home awards with his clothing designs and brings his unique style to the new watch’s look. The watch is inspired by Tokyo’s urban elements and we suppose you could make a case for it evoking that city’s skyline at night. Or Blade Runner. The limited-edition timepiece includes black ion-plated stainless steel on the metal band, the 52.4mm case, and buttons. The face has gold accents and a dark fuchsia second hand, a color that the German-born American designer used liberally in his spring/summer menswear collection. The watch features an auto super-illuminator LED light, neo-brite luminous hands, world time with 31 time zones, five daily alarms, 1/100th second stopwatch and countdown timer, and 12/24 hour formats. To put it more simply, there are a lot of bells and whistles. Plus, like all of the G-Shock products, it’s shock resistant (with a layered guard structure to help absorb impacts) and water resistant up to 200 meters (650 feet). It comes out July 7.
