Courtesy of Motorola Diplo helped officially launch the new phone with Motorola at an event last month, and soon, you’ll be able to get your hands on it too. The event was in Los Angeles at The Container Yard in the downtown Arts District and featured special musical performances by Diplo, DJ and fashion designer Sita Abellán, and there was also a special guest appearance by model and fashion designer Delilah Belle. The new Razr will be available exclusively through Verizon from $1,499.99, with pre-orders beginning on December 26, 2019. Diplo spoke about his upcoming music projects, the new Motorola Razr phone, his best advice, and more. How has it been working with Motorola and what are you excited about with this partnership? It’s nice to have a big launch here in LA, inaugurating what this is: the new razr has arrived, the return of an iconic phone. i’m doing a party w/ them tonight. it’s cool to announce it, to launch it and get people hyped for it. I’m excited, I wanted to get the razr, to have something new, something that fits in my pocket, so this is a perfect phone. What makes this project with Motorola unique and what’s exciting about this for you? It’s exciting to be part of something new, new technology, something stylish.

I have the Higher Ground label and Mad Decent, we have a lot of house music coming out. I have Thomas Wesley putting out country records that are doing their thing right now. And we just put out a big song Que Calor with Major Lazer. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received and how has it helped you in your career so far? I’ve been doing my own thing for 20 years, and I think the most important thing I’ve learned is to be original and try to always push things forward, you know, and be unique because that’s what keeps you separate from the pack, and as far as advice, I think just my father telling me to save up and make sure you’re always prepared for tomorrow. What are some ways you find time to train and how do you workout and stay in shape when you’re on the road? Everywhere you go, you can always run, you can always hike. You can walk around the city. Do you have any travel tips for when you’re on the road? Try to sleep. When you’re on vacation, are you more of a “lay on the beach” person, or a “go out and explore the mountains/jungle” person? Definitely an explorer, but if there’s a beach around, I’m going to the beach. But I like exploring. I always hike, I’m an addict. I like to run, I like to be out in the city see what’s happening out there. What’s your favorite piece of gear or tech you can’t live without? My razr!!
