According to USA Today, 32 of the workers have confirmed cases of the norovirus. It’s a winter bug that hits you with severe vomiting and diarrhea, and it can move through contamination of food or surfaces and the close contact of people who have been infected. All of the security was pulled off duty for fear of spreading the infection any wider.

The security taken off duty were mostly checking and scanning baggage and credentials for those entering venues hosting competition. They have been asked to remain in their rooms until the cause is investigated and no further cases are found. So far, 900 military personnel have been brought in from 40 miles away to take over the duties of those that are ill.
