One day in the future, when you’re craving a vegan burger following your workout, you may turn to a surprising place for it: McDonald’s. The fast-food chain has debuted a 100% vegetable-based hamburger called the “McVegan,” but there’s a catch—it’s only available in Tampere, Finland. For now, at least. The burger, which is made with a soy-based patty and “Vegan McFeast” sauce, will be offered from October 4 through November 21, according to Today. Many people in Finland have started posting their reactions to the burger on social media, and the majority of the responses have been positive. “After boycotting McDonald’s for 20+ years I had to try the new #mcvegan,” wrote one user, according to a translation from Business Insider.
Kävin mäkkärissä. Edellisestä kerrasta on tovi. McVegan on oikein toimiva tuote. #mcdonalds #mcvegan #tampere #vegan #hamburger A post shared by Tatu Chanth (@tatuchanth) on Oct 4, 2017 at 10:03am PDT
While McDonald’s said there are currently no plans to expand the vegan burger’s availability, the strong reaction in Finland—and America’s rapidly growing appetite for healthy fast-food options—could lead to the vegan burger coming stateside in the future. Check here for more information and photos from McDonald’s of the new burger. Want to boost your vegan intake? Try these meal options, tips, and programs from Men’s Fitness.
