A man who was recently seen taunting and yelling at a bison at Yellowstone National Park was arrested last Thursday at hotel in Glacier National Park. The man, Raymond Reinke of Pendleton, Oregon, was taken into custody by park rangers on August 2 after a number of incidents, according to a statement from the National Park Service.

Reinke, age 55, was first arrested on July 28 at Grand Teton National Park on drunk and disorderly conduct charges. After spending a night at the Teton County Jail, Reinke was released. Later, Reinke made his way to Yellowstone National Park, where park rangers stopped him for a traffic violation and cited him for for failure to wear a seat belt. UPDATE: The man who was arrested after harassing bison at Yellowstone, Raymond Reinke, has pled guilty to four charges of misconduct in national parks and has been sentenced to jail, according to ABC Fox Montana News. Reinke was sentenced to 130 days in jail by Judge Mark Carman. He was sentenced to “60 days in jail on the charge of harassing wildlife for the bison incident, plus 60 days for interfering with law enforcement and 10 days for disorderly conduct, for 130 days total in jail, with credit for 21 days served,” according to the report. According to park officials, it was after this incident that Reinke had his run-in with the bison. In the video, Reinke can be seen walking towards the bison on a busy road with cars, taunting and yelling at the animal as it makes its way down the road. Rangers at Yellowstone received multiple complaints about the harassment of wildlife in the park. Here’s the video:
“We appreciate the collaboration of our fellow rangers in Glacier and Grand Teton national parks on this arrest. Harassing wildlife is illegal in any national park,” Yellowstone National Park Superintendent Dan Wenk said in a statement. Rangers finally tracked down Reinke at the Many Glacier Hotel after two guests created “a disturbance” at the hotel. Reinke was one of the individuals identified as creating a disturbance, after which rangers booked Reinke into the Yellowstone Jail. Reinke later appeared in U.S. court on Friday.
