Four short months ago living surf legend Kelly Slater broke his foot while riding in South Africa. On October 30th, he once again paddled into natural waves. The World Surf League uploaded video to their Instagram of Slater hitting New Jersey’s Atlantic Ocean waves hard.

The surfer told the WSL “I don’t care if it takes an extra month to heal, it was worth it.” In fact, he may just head back out for Halloween because the waves were so good, According to Stab Magazine. Slater was visiting his daughter in New York when he got word from surf bud Sam Hammer that Jersey was currently home to sick waves. The pull was too much and Slater hit the ocean.
