Clean lines, minimal profile, thoughtful storage and compartment details. That about sums up Incase’s new everyday-carry option, the Path Backpack ($80).
Photo: Courtesy of Incase I tested the Path for a few weeks, and here’s what I found. First, let’s start off with a quick run-down of the pros and cons of the Path.
Photo: Courtesy of Incase Pros: – Comfortable Straps – Thoughtful storage compartments (particularly for a writer or someone who carries a lot of notebooks and pens) – Sleek look – Available in classic Black, Navy and Deep Red colorways
Photo: Courtesy of Incase Cons: – May not fit larger body types, those with broader shoulders – Price point may make you pause before buying Now, let’s look at these in more detail.
Photo: Courtesy of Incase We’ve got to come out in say what you’re thinking: $80 is a little steep for a plain black backpack. It’s got more than meets the eye, though. The Path is perfect for everyday carry: made from durable, abrasion-resistant nylon fabric, you don’t have to worry about rips and tears that will inevitably happen on your commute. The water bottle sleeve is a little short for the oversized re-usable water bottle I use, but it should fit standard sized bottles just fine. Incase is known for their attention to detail when it comes to functionality, and the compartments show that. A faux-fur lined laptop sleeve, notebooks pockets, pen pouches, and side storage make compartmentalizing a breeze. The pack itself is ultra lightweight but supportive, so it doesn’t add weight to an already heavy load – yet, still feels totally capable of carrying a laptop, notebook, planner, camera, writing utensils, wallet, water bottle and more, with ease. It fits me like a glove, but at 5’4” and 110lbs … I’m not the sample size. Those with broader shoulders or a bit more height or weight may not fit as well as I did. All said and done, this is a pack that can do it all everyday, and do it well.
