After the International House of Pancakes had a small identity crisis this past summer to promote their burgers, we thought the beloved chain would go back to their mainstay: breakfast. And they did—but not without throwing another curveball at us. IHOP’s partnered with New York brewery Keegan Ales to create IHOPS—a Pumpkin Pancake Stout inspired, obviously, by their fall pumpkin pancakes. This isn’t just any old pumpkin beer, either. According to their press release, IHOPS will be blending their signature buttermilk pancake mix and ingredients from their fall menu into the Keegan Ales stout.

“Our advertising agency, Droga5, suggested that those same ingredients that make our fall pancakes so delicious would also make a great tasting beer,” stated Brad Haley, the Chief Marketing Officer of IHOP. “And we wholeheartedly agreed.”

Unfortunately, you’ve got to live in New York to get a buzz off their limited-release beer. Only 20 barrels have been brewed for kegs and bottles to share exclusively with certain bars and beer festivals, debuting first at the Bacon and Beer Classic in Flushing, NY, on September 29. The entire list of events and locations can be found here. You won’t have to worry about a second identity crisis, though.
