Less than a week after Netflix announced a price hike for some of its plans, Hulu announced it’s going in the opposite direction. The streaming service is chopping the subscription price of its base plan, which comes with limited commercials, to $5.99 until January 9, 2018. The price has gone down from $7.99. The hot offer is being made available to both new and returning Hulu subscribers. Those currently using the service will have to continue to use the same price tier to watch all their Wings reruns. The company also rolled out a collaborative, cheaper deal with Spotify geared toward college students recently. For $4.99 a month, students can now grab Spotify Premium and the limited commercial, basic version of Spotify. Hulu’s other packages are sticking with the same price points. A commercial-free option is available for $11.99 and its live TV coupled with on-demand service is still around for $40/month. Peruse all of Hulu’s streaming options here.
