The series “The Montana Way” returns for a second season, with Lake Tahoe, California, professional skier Amie Engerbretson guiding us across Highway 93, Montana’s “Powder Highway.” This season’s episodes will explore Lost Trail Powder Mountain, Montana Snowbowl, and Whitefish Mountain Resort – as well as the lively local scenes that surround each of one. Beginning at Lost Trail, Engerbretson discovers why this family-owned and operated area is beloved throughout the state for its mellow vibe and family-friendly atmosphere. She spends the day chasing ski school director Chris Miller, who was born and  raised at Lost Trail before training in Austria and returning home. His knowledge of the small mountain’s impressive diversity of terrain makes an impact, but not as much as Lost Trail’s unique personality. “It was really cool to ski around with Chris because he grew up skiing that mountain,” says Engerbretson. “He traveled the world, and then Lost Trail brought him back. And that’s where he’s choosing to raise his family and ski every day.” Of course, it wouldn’t be The Montana Way if the day didn’t end with a visit to some of the spots that make the Montana ski experience so unique. Engerbretson follows the locals’ recommendation to Jackson Hot Springs, to soak tired muscles in a scene straight out of that Instagram account you follow that’s always making you jealous. From there, it’s off to sample après beers in the punching-above-its-weight-class brewery scene of nearby Hamilton. Follow Visit Montana on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
