Golfer Alex Noren clearly is a proponent of the “no pain, no gain” principle, but may have taken things a little too far when he was training for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

According to this post from the European Tour, this is nothing new for Noren. “Noren is known as one of the hardest workers on Tour and has said before that he now often wears two gloves during practice to protect his hands from the effects of hitting hundreds of shots in a day,” the tour’s post read. The HSBC Championship isn’t until January 18-21, so he has some time to tenderize these callouses into slightly less gnarly mitts—although we have no reason to expect he’ll lighten up on the hard work. Besides, it’s producing results: Noren has more wins than Rory McIlroy over the last two years.
