The intensity in Westeros is heating up, but the war against the dead is only getting colder—and closer in the next episode, “Death Is the Enemy.” With just two episodes left in the season, HBO’s fantasy epic Game of Thrones is setting up its end game following the events of “Eastwatch.” Although this episode was not nearly as action-packed as the dragon battle in “The Spoils of War,” there still was plenty of dragon action. Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) torched the defeated Tarly clan after they wouldn’t bend the knee, and Drogon got up close and personal with Jon Snow (Kit Harington) at Dragonstone before the King in the North went back, well, north. The ending of the episode was pitch perfect: Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) and Dany hatched an Ocean’s 11 scheme to bring an undead soldier to King’s Landing to convince Cersei to fight the White Walkers, culminating in the all-star Snow Bowl lineup of Jon Snow, Sandor “The Hound” Clegane (Rory McCann), Ser Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen), Thoros of Myr (Paul Kaye), Beric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer), and Gendry (Joe Dempsie) stepping out for a ranging mission beyond the wall. HBO released the preview for episode 6 of the series, titled “Death Is the Enemy,” and it looks like the heroes of Westeros won’t be wasting any time before they bump into the army of the undead:
There are only two episodes left in Season 7 after “Eastwatch,” and just eight left overall in the entire series. Things are going to keep happening—and quickly. Game of Thrones airs on HBO on Sundays at 9 p.m., while previous episodes are available on HBO Go and HBO Now.
