Instead of posting another SpaceX or Tesla update, the Tesla CEO shared a photo with his social media followers over the weekend of what appeared to be a flamethrower with the words “The Boring Company” written on the gear.  And, of course, he couldn’t pass up the prime opportunity to use the caption: “Say hello to my little friend …”

Don’t do this. Also, I want to be clear that a flamethrower is a super terrible idea. Definitely don’t buy one. Unless you like fun. A post shared by Elon Musk (@elonmusk) on Jan 27, 2018 at 5:29pm PST

Musk, who started teasing the product in December, then followed up the photo with a link on Twitter to pre-order The Boring Company Flamethrower, which will only set you back $500, and which sort of looks like a bigger version of one of those kitchen torches that you’d use to caramelize the top of a creme brulee. Meanwhile, for $30, you can even add an extinguisher to your cart, just in case. (On Monday, Musk tweeted that 10,000 Flamethrower orders have come through for the product, and replied to one of his followers that around 3,000 extinguishers had been ordered so far.) And according to the site description, if you order the Flamethrower, you can expect it around springtime.

When the zombie apocalypse happens, you’ll be glad you bought a flamethrower. Works against hordes of the undead or your money back! — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) January 28, 2018

“Don’t do this,” the Tesla CEO later wrote in a caption for an Instagram video showing the Flamethrower in use. “Also, I want to be clear that a flamethrower is a super terrible idea. Definitely don’t buy one. Unless you like fun.” Well in that case…
