Fall brings a resurgence of culture. The best shows and movies come back to Netflix, and we become more invested in culture again. Here are three can’t-miss things to watch, listen to, and see in October 2018.   In order to view the video, please allow Manage Cookies

What to Watch in October: Beautiful Boy Based on a memoir of the same name, Beautiful Boy follows writer David Sheff (Steve Carell) as he struggles to help his college-bound son, Nic (Timothée Chalamet), overcome a crystal-meth addiction. When Nic vanishes, David spends his nights looking for him and his days researching his disease, haunted by memories of them surfing, driving, and listening to music together. Once found, Nic cleans up but soon slips into a brutal cycle of recovery and relapse. With some 64,000 overdose deaths annually in the U.S., the film is heartbreaking because of its familiarity and its likely end. (10/12) What to Listen to in October: Back to Back Podcast Essential listening for NBA junkies, Back to Back, launched in March, is the brainchild of Jade Hoye, previously of ESPN’s TrueHoop and The Basketball Analogy podcasts. The show is effectively five in one, with a different segment each day, covering basketball, culture, and beyond. On the “Friday Mailbag,” hosts field listener questions on dating, life, and sports—with pure-gold responses.
