After news broke Monday evening of Tom Petty’s death, musicians and celebrities around the web mourned the southern rock legend. Petty passed away from cardiac arrest at 66, leaving behind an extensive catalogue of American classics as both a frontman for his band “The Heartbreakers” and as a solo artist. His hits include “American Girl,” “Free Fallin’,” and “I Won’t Back Down.” On Twitter, Petty’s family released a statement through the star’s manager.
