Canada Goose has always combined luxury with technical knowhow in its outerwear, but now the Toronto-based company has turned its eye towards another important element in your winter wardrobe: sweaters. Its new knitwear offerings are both as stylish and as adventure-ready as you’d expect. The new line — which includes seven styles, from pullovers to cardigans to hoodies — combines the function-first technical expertise honed by the company in their outerwear with Argentinian Merino wool that’s spun into yarn in Italy. RELATED: The Sweater Your Fall Layering Rotation Is Missing “Ultrafine merino wool is one of the most technically advanced fibers in the world and it comes from a natural source,” said Lee Turlington, the company’s chief product officer. He decided on ultra-fine Merino wool for its natural temperature control, breathability, moisture wicking, and durability. Canada Goose also uses thermal mapping, a proprietary technology they perfected with their outerwear, to determine strategic stitch patterns to help regulate body temperature. “Different parts of the body lose heat more than others so the goal was to increase a garment’s warmth without adding bulk or weight,” Turlington said. “We brought this expertise to our knitwear collection, using different open weave stitch patterns to increase breathability and airflow to the parts of the body that generate the most heat, such as the underarms or neck.” The company borrowed other details from their outerwear for the new collection, including oversized zipper pulls, adjustable hoods and shaping wires. Courtesy of Canada Goose Perhaps the most unique piece in the line is the cleverly named HyBridge Knit Jacket ($595), a medium-weight Merino wool knit with a down-filled quilted front. The ribbed knit neck and cuffs offer added warmth and durability and give it a bomber-esque feel. Another standout is the Vancouver Hoody ($395). It harks back to the classic 1970s pullover hooded sweatshirt with its kangaroo pocket and drawstrings, but elevates the style thanks to its Italian-spun Merino wool knit and a shaping wire in the hood that lets you adjust the look and feel as needed.
