I go on a lot of canoe trips where people like to use seats with backs. I’m not a huge advocate, because when I’m paddling, which is most of the time, I have no need for a seatback, and the frame of the seat often gets in the way of my paddling rhythm. However, if you like to drift along, throwing in an occasional stroke to keep the boat going in the right direction, and most of your time is spent relaxing in the canoe, then this is for you. Also, if the seat back isn’t necessary, just fold it down and sit on it. I do like the extra padding, and this model is easy to strap in place, well designed and sturdy.
