There were 120 men who finished the Tunnel Hill 100 in Vienna, Illinois, on November 11. Camille Herron beat every single one. The 35-year-old professional ultrarunner and Olympic marathon trials qualifier averaged an astonishing 7:37 pace per mile, finishing in 12:42:39. Her mark broke the women’s world record for the distance by more than an hour. (The men’s record, set in 1984 by Yiannis Kouros, is 11:46:37.)

Over the moon to set a new 100 Mile World Record of 12:42:39 at the #TunnelHill100 . Also surpassed the 100 mi Trail FKTs for both men and women. In addition, she set a course record for both men and women. This isn’t Herron’s first world record. She previously set the mark for fastest woman to complete a marathon dressed as a superhero. In 2012, she completed the Route 66 Marathon in 2:48 dressed as Spiderman.
