But after a modern-looking coffee cup made its way into Episode 4 of Season 8, “The Last of the Starks”, the moment blew up on social media, with fans, the cast, and even HBO making light of the mistake.

Once the episode aired, fans noticed the coffee cup and started posting jokes and memes on social media about it. While many viewers assumed it was a Starbucks cup based on the shape and look of the cup, the cup was actually just a coffee cup from Game of Thrones craft services, according to the Wall Street Journal. HBO responded with a humorous statement about the mistake, saying that “the latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.”
